Working side by side with educators and advocates across the state, we helped to pass the capital gains tax on the ultra wealthy. Thanks to your petitions, letter-writing campaigns, legislative actions, and letters to the editors, legislators in Olympia heard us. Actions like these make a huge difference for Washington’s communities!
The revenue from capital gains will bring in more than $500 million every year — that means more kids across Washington will have access to quality early learning, more parents will be able to afford childcare and return to work, and more childcare centers and schools will be built, creating countless jobs in the process.
We’re proud of the capital gains tax. And we also know our work isn’t done. Poll after poll shows Washington voters support making millionaires and billionaires in our state pay what they owe in taxes to fund our schools, roads, housing, and critical services. We won’t stop fighting until we have a fair and just tax code and a Washington where our communities can thrive.
